PART II: How Animal Companions Choose US

Updated: Feb 28, 2022

It would be so nice to think that our companions are sitting around with other souls looking down at earth, trying to find the perfect human and situation. Just at the exact moment necessary, their souls swoop down, enter their mamma's belly, wait to be born, and VOILA! They are with their chosen Human......Alas! It can't work that way. So how does it work?

I don't know. There are so many factors to consider. So many things that can interfere with a soul's attempt at connecting with their human. Fate definitely plays a part. Chance? Luck? I prefer to go with FATE. DESTINY. All I can definitively write about is my experience with my dog, Little Bear.

My kids and I adopted Little Bear when he was 6 weeks old. Too young to be away from his mother, but this is what happens when "bad" humans dispose of puppies. The fact that Little Bear survived his first weeks with his litter mates is nothing short of a miracle. A miracle AND miracles in the form of rescues and fosters. The collective effort saved these lives and made it possible for us to adopt. It wasn't until much later that I realized Little Bear and I had a previous life together. In fact, my children were also in that previous life, but they were my siblings then. Little Bear was a wolf, but our wolf. He didn't belong to a pack and instead created a pack with us.

So Wolf found his way back to us hundreds of years later, taking the form of Little Bear. When I think of all the things that could have been done differently, it is amazing to me that he was able to find us at all! Here is my short list of things that could have gone wrong:

1) Little Bear and his litter mates were not boxed up and dumped, but their lives were ended instead

2) The box of pups was not found in time

3) Those particular people did not take in the puppies

4) That particular rescue did not take the puppies from the first people, therefore the puppies did not end up in my area.

5) Another person arrived to adoption day earlier than me and adopted Little Bear.

When you think about these things and other things I haven't thought of that could have interfered with us being reunited, it is nothing short of miraculous that we were able to find each other. For me, this makes our reunion all the more special. Little Bear literally traveled through time and space to find me!

So how do animals choose us and then find us? For me, the answer is FATE. Soul Connections and Energy Chords work together to bring us together. Sometimes, it doesn't work out and souls have to wait for another lifetime to reconnect. When it does happen, you will know it. You will feel it. All I can say is ENJOY and CHERISH the reunion and the life you share today. Pay attention to any lessons that may need to be learned. Love your companions well, as they love us unconditionally always.
